Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive Marketing Intern to focus on media relations and community engagement within the cybersecurity space. This role will involve building relationships with industry influencers, obtaining linkbacks, and driving community discussions on platforms like Reddit, HackerNews, and cybersecurity blogs. You’ll be an essential part of expanding our online presence and establishing HeroDevs as a thought leader in the open-source and security ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Linkback Outreach: Identify linkback opportunities from credible websites and cybersecurity-focused publications, blogs, and forums.
• Media Relations: Build relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the cybersecurity and open-source communities to increase our visibility.
• Community Engagement: Actively participate in discussions on platforms such as Reddit, HackerNews, and relevant industry forums to raise awareness about HeroDevs.
• PR Support: Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, pitches, and media kits to targeted outlets.
• Research: Stay current with the latest cybersecurity news, trends, and relevant discussions to inform outreach strategies.
• Collaboration: Work with the marketing team to align media outreach and community engagement with overall company goals and messaging.

Who You Are:

• A current student or recent graduate in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
• Passionate about building relationships and engaging with online communities.
• Interested in the intersection of cybersecurity, technology, and media relations.
• A strong communicator, both in writing and verbal, with a natural ability to connect with others.
• Familiar with platforms like Reddit, HackerNews, and other online communities where technical and security-focused audiences gather.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage outreach efforts and community engagement.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of cybersecurity or open-source technology.
• Previous experience in link building, public relations, or digital marketing.
• Familiarity with SEO and content marketing strategies.
